We would like to maintain the projection of 5.1 million tonnes of tomato for 2012 season even two weeks away from last email dated March 15. Currently growers in Southern Xinjiang have started planting from some time, but those in Northern Xinjiang just started planting, therefore growers still have a hesitant period of 20-30 days to decide whether they want to grow tomatoes or not. Furthermore, as you may be aware that 2012 is a leap year in Chinese lunar calendar, which indicates that there are two Aprils and we may experience a sudden temperature drops in northern area during critical growing season for tomatoes as the second April in Chinese lunar calendar is from May 21 to June 29.

Ning Gaoming, COFCO Chairman, said that due to oversupply and decreased demand, tomato processing companies have been losing money in the economic slowdown over the past three years. He urged the whole industry to jointly cope with these difficulties by making use of the congress as a platform.

1. From info in 30 March 2012 (tomato planning preparation) that the tomato pasta 2012 forecast is around 5.1 million MT, decrease from 7 million MT (37%). This is the fact based on global calculation 
2. From our principals data (they get the calculation direct from farmer), it shown that the 2012 forecast will decrease 40-50%. 
3. July 2012, we got an info from our principal that Inner Mongolia (1 of 3 tomato pasta producer in China : Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Gansu) also got heavy rain 2 weeks ago. It is predicted that the quantity will decrease 70%. 
4. From direct information, CB 36/38 will be produced larger than HB 28/30.

Dairy Milk, Be Healthy, Be Wealthy

Increasing health conscious is leading to the increasing needs and wants of various healthy products, around the world. One of the needs, literally needed by our body is dairy milk.

One type of dairy milk that highly consumed around the world is the milk powder.

Briefly sharing about dairy milk is described as below:

Long time ago….

It was on 19^th century when Marco Polo wrote of Mongolian Tartar the time of Kublai Khan who carried sun-dried skimmed milk as "a kind of paste",the first usable commercial production process for dried milk was invented by the Russian chemist M. Dirchoff in 1832. 

In this day and age…

Powdered milk or dried milk is a manufactured dairy products made by evaporating milk to dryness. This type of milk are produced considering the purpose of far longer shelf life than liquid milk and does not need to be refrigerated , hence, to reduce its bulk for economy of transportation.

What’s the use of powdered milk?

Generally, it is used for food and health (nutrition), and atypically also in biotechnology (saturating agent).Particularly, it is used not just in Milk Industry, is frequently used in the manufacture of infant formula, confectionary such as chocolate and caramel candy, and in recipes for baked goods where adding liquid milk would render the product too thin. Powdered milk is also widely used in various sweets such as the famous Indian milk balls known as Rasa-Gulla and popular Indian sweet delicacy (sprinkled with desiccated coconut) known as Chum Chum (made with skim milk powder).

What’s the Nutritional Value?

Milk powders contain all twenty-one standard amino acids, the building blocks of proteins, and are high in soluble vitamins and minerals. According to USAID, the typical average amounts of major nutrients in the unreconstituted nonfat dry milk are (by weight) 36% protein, 52% carbohydrates (predominantly lactose), calcium 1.3%, potassium 1.8%. Whole milk powder, on the other hand, contains on average 25-27% protein, 36-38% carbohydrates, 26-40% fat, and 5-7% ash (minerals)
